A trip to berlin

Berlin Skyline

The new year is upon us, but before the previous one ended…

I took a trip to Berlin and Konz in Germany to visit friends, relax and shoot some photographs, one of my goals was to get some good shots of the U-Bahn in addition to just wander around the streets. I had purchased a nice selection of films; Fujifilm Pro400H, Cinestill 50D, Cinestill 800T, Kodak Ektachrome, Kodak Tri-X 400, and Kodak P3200… some in 120, some in 135 and some in both….It was a nice trip and before this turn into a blog, here are some of my favorites…

A juxtaposition

A happy commuter

I caught as he was headed onto the U-Bahn at Frankfurter Tor, we chatted for a few minuts in my broken german and I asked to take a photo, he was happy to oblige…

An U-Bahn adventure

Alexanderplatz U-bahnhof shot on my Mamiya C330 with Cinestill 800T

One of my goals was to shoot a few good frames from the U-Bahn stations with some Cinestill 800T, I did get some looks carting my TLR around on a monopod on the underground but when I got my shots back I was very happy with my results. I was however stressing more than I should and had I slowed down and taken my time a bit more I am certain more of the shots I had taken would have been excellent rather than just “OK”

A fortuitous light leak

The old trains on the U-Bahn have a serious iconic look to them, and the light leak in this case just adds to the interest of the photograph I think, this was the last shot on the roll and I didn’t wind the film completely on to the roll before opening the camera and in the moment I had a bit of panic but was it turns out it was completely unfounded.

….and some grafitti…

and to end this update, some of the local wildlife from a stroll along the river in Konz, I was mainly occupied with hanging out with my awesome friends in Konz as I only had a short weekend to spend there before heading back to Berlin for my final few days of vacation there….

Onwards….
